The final round of the fifth event of the 2026 ThreeBond TPGA Challenge Tour—the Yeangder Challenge Tour—concluded today at the Suncity Golf Course in Guanxi, Hsinchu. Defending champion Hung Chien-yao relied on his veteran composure after being caught from behind, ultimately defeating Wang Hsi-an with a 7-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to successfully defend his title and claim the NT$150,000 winner's prize. Wang Hsi-an finished as the runner-up, earning NT$75,000. Hung carded a 2-under-par 70 today, while Wang, who started one stroke back, shot a 69. Both players finished regulation play at 8-under-par 136, forcing a sudden-death playoff on the par-5 18th hole. On the first playoff hole, both players reached the green in three shots. Wang missed his approximately 10-foot birdie attempt, while Hung calmly converted his 7-foot putt to secure the victory. Tsai Chin-yang shot a 69 and Chen Ting-yu carded a 70, with both finishing tied for third place at 137 overall, sharing a prize of NT$45,000 each. Lin Chen-chu and Huang Tao both fired 68s to finish tied for fifth at 138. During the awards ceremony, Hung expressed his joy at winning a tournament title-sponsored by his sponsor, the Yeangder Group. He thanked the Yeangder Group and San-Fa Textile for their long-term support, alongside his corporate sponsors, Medical Excellence Group (MEG) and All Ring Tech, as well as his family for their quiet, unwavering backing. He noted that despite heavy downpours over the past two days, the course conditions at Suncity remained remarkably pristine with minimal impact. Expressing his fondness for the course layout, which suits his game well, he was thrilled to secure back-to-back victories at the venue. Starting the day with a one-stroke lead, the Taiwan Tour seed played solidly on the front nine with two birdies to maintain his advantage. After picking up another birdie on the 11th, a bogey on the 13th allowed Wang Hsi-an—who carded four birdies through his first 13 holes—to draw even. Hung admitted that the pressure of defending his title caused some rhythm issues on the back nine, leading to miscues on the par-5 16th and par-4 17th that could have easily cost him the lead. However, by staying relaxed and refueling with bananas and water, he regained his composure and managed to escape disaster, though he was caught again by the end of regulation before clinching it in the playoff. Hung remarked that while his recent performances over the past two weeks were strong, he consistently finished as the runner-up. Using this event to maintain his feel, fine-tune his swing mechanics, and practice under pressure, he praised the impressive skill level and modern techniques of the younger generation of Taiwanese players, expressing optimism for the future of domestic golf. Runner-up Wang Hsi-an played a stellar round, carding five birdies and two bogeys to catch Hung twice during regulation, though he ultimately missed crucial birdie opportunities on the 18th hole of regulation and the playoff. The tournament featured 96 players (86 professionals and 10 amateurs) competing across 36 holes for a total prize purse of NT$1 million, with no cut made after the first round and prize money distributed to the top 40 finishers. Chairman Lin Jui-chang of Taiwan Fu Hsing Industrial Co., Ltd. continues his generous support this season by providing additional year-end bonuses of NT$500,000, NT$300,000, and NT$200,000 to the top three players on the Challenge Tour Order of Merit. ThreeBond, a Japanese industrial adhesive manufacturer that has supported former TPGA Chairman Chen Chih-chung for 40 years, is celebrating its 12th consecutive year as the title sponsor of the TPGA Challenge Tour.
