ThreeBond HWAN TAI Challenge Tour Final Round

2026 ThreeBond HWAN TAI Challenge Tour

Round 2

Oct. 14, 2026

The 7th leg of the 2026 ThreeBond TPGA Challenge Tour, the HWAN TAI Challenge Tour, concluded its final round today, October 14, at the Shong-Bor-Ling Golf Club in Nantou. Hsu Yu-cheng staged a remarkable comeback by firing a 7-under-par 65 for a two-round total of 137, securing his maiden professional victory along with the NT$150,000 top prize. Lin Ta-yu stumbled with a bogey on the final 18th hole to sign for a 67, finishing two strokes back at 139 to take runner-up honors and NT$75,000. During his round, Hsu also aced the par-3 4th hole from 114 yards using a 52-degree wedge, claiming the NT$12,000 hole-in-one prize provided by the club.

Hsiao Ho-yu and Tseng Feng-tung both carded 72s while Lo Cheng-yuan shot a 73, leaving the trio tied for third place at 143 after 36 holes.

Representing the National Golf Country Club, amateur Kim Si-eun carded a 73 for a two-round total of 4-over-par 148, claiming the amateur division title and finishing tied for 25th overall on the professional leaderboard. He received the amateur champion supplementary prizes, consisting of five dozen Srixon Z-Star Diamond golf balls sponsored by Dunlop Sports Taiwan and an Omnix golf bag provided by Shang Chong International Co., Ltd.

Reflecting on his breakthrough victory after turning professional four years ago, Hsu Yu-cheng expressed immense joy and stated that his next career goal is to capture a Taiwan Tour title. He expressed deep gratitude to his parents for their support and guidance—especially his father, Hsu Meng-nan, under whose tutelage he grew up and frequently shares the competitive stage with today. He also thanked the Taiwan Golf Club and its supporting member sponsors, coach Lu Mei-hsien and his coaching team, Taiwan Golf Club driving range general manager Tu, and Puyoung Construction, alongside Mr. Yang Wen-lai for recommending him for the tournament. He noted that today's hole-in-one marked the first of his professional career and provided a massive momentum boost toward his victory.

Hsu's irons and putter clicked seamlessly as he carded seven birdies, two bogeys, and an ace to power through the field. Starting the day at even par and three strokes behind the leaders, he opened with a blazing front nine that featured four birdies, a bogey, and his hole-in-one on the 4th, turning in 31. Meanwhile, overnight co-leader Lin Ta-yu fired an eagle and two birdies on the front nine for a 32, leaving Hsu holding a one-stroke lead at 5-under. Although Hsu dropped a shot on the 15th to briefly level the score, he immediately bounced back with a birdie on the 16th to reclaim a one-shot advantage. On the par-5 18th, Lin suffered a costly three-putt bogey, missing the chance to force a playoff and handing the title to Hsu by two strokes.

Hsu showcased exceptional short game mastery with his chipping while displaying pinpoint accuracy with his irons, requiring just 24 putts throughout the round as the ultimate key to his triumph. Highlighted by a 17-foot long-range conversion on the 9th hole—his longest birdie putt of the day—he maintained total focus on his own rhythm rather than scoreboard pressure, acknowledging that despite the victory, there are still areas of his game to refine.

Hsu shared that despite growing up surrounded by his father Hsu Meng-nan's golfing career, he did not initially catch the bug for the sport until the second semester of the seventh grade at age 13, when he committed to following in his father's footsteps. Currently ranked 28th on the Taiwan Tour Order of Merit, he has already achieved his goal of making the weekend cuts at two major Asian Tour events this season, and is preparing to attempt the Japan Golf Tour qualifying school early next year while eyeing his first Taiwan Tour championship trophy.

This 36-hole event marks the seventh tournament of the season on the ThreeBond Challenge Tour, featuring a total prize purse of NT$1 million. This is the second consecutive year that Hwan Tai Cement Products Co., Ltd. has served as the single-station title sponsor, co-organizing the event alongside ThreeBond and the Taiwan Professional Golf Association (TPGA). Played under a non-cut format, prize money was awarded to the top 40 players and ties upon the completion of the tournament.

Hwan Tai Cement previously served as the single-station title sponsor for the Taiwan Tour Hwan Tai Open—featuring a total prize purse of NT$3 million—for three consecutive years from 2021 to 2023. Furthermore, Hwan Tai Cement Chairman Li Shih-pin has consistently sponsored numerous professional men's golf tournaments hosted in the Taichung region over the years.

Designed and supervised by the "Father of Taiwanese Golf" Mr. Chen Chin-liong, the Shong-Bor-Ling Golf Club in Nantou features nine holes constructed in 1980, with the full 18-hole course completed in 1982. Situated on the Shong-Bor-Ling plateau in the Bagua mountain range, the course boasts breathtaking panoramic views overlooking renowned scenic landmarks such as Jiji Mountain, Yushan, Xitou, and even Hehuanshan, offering a truly refreshing and relaxing atmosphere. While the course commands expansive vistas, its narrow fairways, flanking tree lines, undulating terrain, significant elevation changes, demanding tee-shot placement, and tricky putting surfaces pose a rigorous test of skill.

Taiwan Fushing Industrial Co., Ltd. Chairman Lin Jui-chang continues his sponsorship this year by providing supplemental Order of Merit bonuses of NT$500,000, NT$300,000, and NT$200,000 for the top three finishers on the ThreeBond Challenge Tour season standings.

ThreeBond, a multinational enterprise originating from professional industrial adhesives in Japan, is marking its 12th year as the title sponsor of the TPGA Challenge Tour. The 2026 ThreeBond TPGA Challenge Tour maintains a schedule of nine events.

ThreeBond Hong Kong Limited Taiwan Branch General Manager Akira Nagashima, Hwan Tai Cement Chairman Li Shih-pin, and Shong-Bor-Ling Golf Club Chairman Lin Juei-bin all attended today's awards ceremony. Hwan Tai Cement and Shong-Bor-Ling Golf Club announced that they will jointly co-organize a professional tournament with an even higher total prize purse next year.
