ThreeBond Fushing Challenge 2026

Round 1

Sep. 30, 2026

The NT$1 million 2026 ThreeBond Fushing Challenge held its opening round today, September 30, at the Hsin-Yi Golf Club in Kaohsiung. Yang Fei-hao, Lin Ta-yu, and local player Lin Yi-yuan all carded 4-under-par 68s to share the early lead, splitting the NT$20,000 daily lowest score award. Defending champion Li Jui-shen and Chiang Yi-an sit one stroke back at 69, tied for fourth place ahead of tomorrow's final round.

Amateur player Tu Li-hao shot a 70, tying for sixth place alongside professional players Chen Po-hao and Huang Hsiang-hao as the top-performing amateur in the field.

The 36-hole tournament features 88 players, comprising 80 professionals and 8 amateurs, competing for the championship trophy and the NT$150,000 top prize.

Tomorrow's final round will feature split-tee starts from the 1st and 10th holes, with the first group teeing off at 6:30 AM and the final group at 8:35 AM. Play is expected to conclude around 1:30 PM under a non-cut format, immediately followed by the awards ceremony where the top 40 players will receive prize money.

Yang Fei-hao carded six birdies against two bogeys. Starting from the 10th tee, his iron play on the front nine was solid, but putting struggles resulted in a 36 with one birdie and one bogey. His putting clicked on the back nine, where he drained several birdie putts and dropped only a single shot for a 33. His highlight came on the 4th hole, where a wayward drive brushed a tree into the rough 80 yards out; his second shot landed 21 feet past the pin on a downhill slope, and he calmly converted the birdie putt, alongside mostly 3-to-9-foot conversions elsewhere.

Yang reflected that after recovering from a knee injury, he views his current golf life as a balance where playing is a hobby, competing is entertainment, and teaching is his primary profession. He thanked his peers for inviting him back to compete and adjusted his mindset to simply enjoy the game while balancing health, work, and personal interests like video production.

Lin Ta-yu also posted six birdies and two bogeys, highlighting a hot putter that converted several long-range attempts, including a 40-footer on the 2nd hole, an 18-footer on the 5th, and a 36-footer on the 16th. On his opening 10th hole, his drive pulled left into the rough; he chipped back to the fairway 90 yards out and saved par with an 18-foot putt, marking his best recovery of the day. Despite 31 total putts, his iron play remained solid, though wayward tee shots into the thick rough led to both of his bogeys, and inconsistent speed control on shorter putts limited further scoring.

Local Hsin-Yi product Lin Yi-yuan experienced a fluctuating round starting from the 10th tee, carding an eagle, two birdies, a bogey, and a double bogey for a 35 on the front nine, followed by three birdies for a 33 on the back. His short irons and putting were exceptional, leading to an eagle and three birdies across the four par-5s. After picking up birdies on the 12th and 15th, a lost-ball penalty on the 16th led to a double bogey, followed by another dropped shot on the par-3 17th. He bounced back brilliantly on the par-5 18th by striking a 4-iron from 230 yards out to 18 feet and sinking the eagle putt.

Lin noted that his 80-to-100-yard wedge play was stellar, hitting 14 greens in regulation with 29 putts. Although he found only four fairways off the tee, most drives rested safely in the first cut without obstructing his approach shots.

Chiang Yi-an carded a clean round of three birdies and zero bogeys, picking up a shot on each par type. On the par-4 4th hole, his drive finished under a tree 150 yards away, but a 9-iron approach left him a tap-in birdie. He added a 9-foot birdie on the par-3 13th and capitalized on the par-5 18th with a crisp pitch-and-putt.

Chiang noted that while he missed six or seven birdie chances from 4 to 9 feet due to misjudged green speeds and light pace, he successfully converted three clutch par saves from 9, 12, and 21 feet. Having spent a long period recovering from a severe cold with limited practice, he approached the tournament with a relaxed mindset that surprisingly yielded great results, balancing his time teaching golf in Taoyuan.

Defending champion Li Jui-shen shot four birdies and a bogey, featuring conversions on two par-5s alongside 15-foot downhill and 11-foot birdie putts on the 12th and 17th holes. His precision irons hit 16 greens in regulation, though few finished close enough to the pins to yield tap-in birdies, maintaining steady driving and putting performance throughout.

On the par-4 16th hole, his drive drifted right and struck a tree 270 yards from the pin; his second shot settled in a greenside bunker on the left, from where he splashed out to 4 feet and holed the putt for a crucial par save.
