June 1, 2026 The 2026 CHAU-SHI Series – Mizuno Open, with a total purse of NT$3 million, will be played over 72 holes across four rounds from June 3 to June 6 at Bombax Golf Country Club in Tainan. A total of 138 players from six countries and regions will compete for the championship trophy and the winner’s prize of NT$500,000, while the runner-up will receive NT$250,000. Tsai Kai-jen will look to continue the excellent form that earned him victory last week and pursue back-to-back titles, while Liu Yen-hung and Hung Chien-yao will both seek their second Mizuno Open crowns. In addition to the host nation, players from Hong Kong, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, and the United States will participate. The field includes 125 professional players, comprising 90 Taiwanese professionals and 35 international professionals. Japan has the largest overseas contingent with 25 players, followed by Thailand with seven players. Thirteen Taiwanese amateurs are also competing in the tournament. An 18-hole Pro-Am tournament was held today at Bombax Golf Country Club. Twenty-five professionals teamed up with more than 80 amateur participants under a modified scramble format. The team led by Taiwanese professional Chen Yi-tung combined to shoot 17-under-par 55 and claimed the championship. Each of the three amateur teammates received a Mizuno premium forged putter. Among the Taiwanese contenders are 2022 champion Liu Yen-hung, 2023 champion Hung Chien-yao, 2026 CHAU-SHI Series season-opening champion Ian Peng, and last week’s Jia Yun Open champion Tsai Kai-jen. Also in the field are rising star Su Chin-hung, who finished runner-up at last week’s Jia Yun Open, third-place finisher Huang Yi-tseng, fourth-place finisher Chan Shih-chang, and veteran Liu Yong-hua. Adding further strength to the competition is Thailand’s Warun Ieamgaew, currently ranked second on the Taiwan Tour Order of Merit. The tournament promises to be highly competitive and exciting. This event is the third tournament of the 2026 CHAU-SHI Series and the fifth event on the 2026 Taiwan Tour schedule. Following the first two rounds, the leading 50 players and ties will advance to the final two rounds. The CHAU-SHI Series is title-sponsored by Wong Chau-shi, Honorary Chairman of Mercuries Group. Established in 2021, the series is now in its sixth consecutive year. This tournament is presented by Mizuno Taiwan, organized by The PGA of Taiwan (TPGA), and supported by Bombax Golf Country Club as the principal sponsor and co-organizer. Both Mizuno Taiwan and Bombax Golf Country Club are serving as title sponsor, principal sponsor, and co-organizer for the sixth consecutive year. The CHAU-SHI Series was initiated by Mr. Wong Chau-shi, one of the founders of Mercuries Group and its Honorary Chairman. In 2021, when the number of Taiwan Tour events and total prize money declined significantly due to the pandemic, Mr. Wong personally provided title sponsorship for six tournaments, contributing NT$2 million per event for a total of NT$12 million. His support helped establish the foundation of the Taiwan Tour during that challenging year. This year marks the sixth consecutive season that the CHAU-SHI Series has been conducted under the same sponsorship model. Each tournament receives NT$1.5 million in sponsorship support, and eight tournaments are scheduled for 2026. The CHAU-SHI Series also features a special Order of Merit bonus. The season-long money leader will receive an additional NT$250,000 provided by HONLIN CONSTRUCTION CO., LTD. Chairman Lin Kuo-er and will also earn an exemption into the following year’s Mercuries Taiwan Masters. For the opening round on June 3, players will be split into morning and afternoon waves, with simultaneous starts from the 1st and 10th tees. The first morning group will tee off at 6:30 a.m., while the first afternoon group will begin at 11:00 a.m. The championship course, consisting of the Green Mountain and Green Water nines at Bombax Golf Country Club, measures 7,182 yards. Long hitters will have opportunities to post low scores, as demonstrated by the 2023 winning score of 26-under-par. However, shots inside 100 yards, along with judging green speed, grain, and slope, present significant challenges. Special Awards Hole-in-One Awards Holes 2 and 8 (Green Mountain Course) and Holes 11 and 17 (Green Water Course): Hole 17: Any Hole: Course Record Award A bonus of NT$20,000 will be awarded by the golf course to any player who breaks the course record for the Green Mountain and Green Water Course combination. The current record of 62 is held by Hung Chien-yao. Spectator Information Spectators are welcome during the tournament. Visitors wishing to enter the course must register at the golf club reception desk, pay a NT$20 facility and course maintenance fee, and obtain a spectator pass before entering the course. Spectators must walk on the cart paths at all times. No shuttle service is provided between holes. For safety reasons, children under six years old and pets are strongly discouraged from entering the course. Broadcast Information Highlights from the final two rounds will be shown via delayed broadcast on June 16 and June 17 at 4:00 p.m. Coverage will be available on TPGA Facebook, YouTube, Yahoo Sports, Golfourit on LINE, the TPGA official website, VL Sports, and Line Today.
