April 9, 2026 Hsieh Ting-wei Surges to Victory, Claims Third Career Title The final round of the 2026 ThreeBond Advanced Challenge Tour Opening Event was held today (9th) at Bombax Golf Club in Tainan. Trailing by two strokes, Hsieh Ting-wei fired an eagle, five birdies, and no bogeys for a 7-under-par 65. With a two-round total of 10-under-par 134, he came from behind to win by one stroke, successfully defending his title and earning NT$150,000 in prize money. This marks his third title on the ThreeBond Advanced Challenge Tour and in his professional career, and he becomes the first player to win his debut event on the tour and successfully defend the title. Lin Da-yu, who held a share of the lead with a two-shot advantage entering the final round, carded a 68 to finish runner-up at 9-under-par 135, earning NT$75,000. Jiang I-an posted a 69 to finish third with a two-round total of 137, receiving NT$50,000. Bombax Golf Club trainee amateur Hsu Po-cheng shot a 71 for a two-round total of even-par 144, securing the Best Amateur honor. He received amateur champion prizes including five dozen SRIXON Z-STAR DIAMOND balls sponsored by Dunlop Taiwan and one OMNIX golf bag sponsored by Shang Chong International Co., Ltd. He also finished tied for ninth place overall among professionals. Hsieh Ting-wei, aged 26, turned professional in September 2024. His first ThreeBond Advanced Challenge Tour appearance last year was this very event, where he claimed his maiden title. He became the third TPGA player to win his first professional title in his debut ThreeBond event, following Chang Wei-lun in 2015 and Wang Wei-hsuan in 2019. This year, he becomes the first player to successfully defend that debut victory. Competing this week as a Taiwan Tour seed player, Hsieh said he was delighted to return to the ThreeBond Advanced Challenge Tour and defend his title. He noted that the event helps him maintain competitiveness and evaluate his performance, and hopes to continue competing against strong fields. His goal this year is to achieve strong results on the Taiwan Tour and in three Asian Tour events in Taiwan, aiming for a high Asian Tour Order of Merit ranking to secure playing rights for next season. He expressed special thanks to his parents for over 20 years of support, as well as to his coach Chang Chi-chun and sponsors including King’s Club, Heh Jiu Trading, Grand Fortune Group, and Lofans. In today’s final round, Hsieh started two strokes behind Lin Da-yu and Yang Hao. He said his driving, iron play, and putting over the first three holes were not sharp, “I had no feel at all.” However, everything changed on the par-5 5th hole, where he reached the green in two and made an 18-foot eagle putt. He then drained his longest putt of the day, a 60-foot birdie on the 8th, followed by a chip-and-putt birdie on the par-5 9th to make the turn in 32 and take a one-shot lead. On the back nine, he chipped in from about 5 yards on the 10th, recovered from a poor tee shot on the par-5 13th by hitting his third shot from 160 yards to 9 feet and converting for birdie, and added another birdie on the par-3 17th with a 27-foot putt. He shot 33 on the back nine to complete a bogey-free round. Lin Da-yu posed the only real challenge. He recorded six birdies and one double bogey. After a double bogey on the par-3 2nd and three birdies on the front nine, he turned in 35 and trailed Hsieh by one. By the time Hsieh finished at 10-under-par, Lin stood at 8-under with one hole remaining. On the final hole, a par-4, he attacked the green with his tee shot, leaving a 21-foot eagle putt. His attempt to force a playoff missed, and he settled for birdie to finish at 9-under, one shot behind. The final round was again affected by morning fog, delaying the original 6:30 a.m. start by 30 minutes to 7:00 a.m. The tournament concluded successfully at approximately 2:30 p.m., followed by the award ceremony and signing event. Following the ceremony, ThreeBond and TPGA held a signing ceremony at Bombax Golf Club to continue their 12th year of title sponsorship of the ThreeBond Advanced Challenge Tour. The signing was witnessed by Tour CEO Chen Chih-chung, with ThreeBond Hong Kong Limited President Shigehiko Miyamoto and TPGA Chairman Chen Jung-hsing representing both parties. Also in attendance were Akira Nagashima, Branch Manager of ThreeBond Hong Kong Taiwan Branch, and Cheng Po-yuan, General Manager of Bombax Golf Club. It is organized by ThreeBond and TPGA, with Bombax Golf Club serving as the title sponsor and host venue.
