Press Release

2025/12/16

With a total prize purse of NT$3 million, the Tian Zheng Chang Wah TPGA Pro-Am Legacy Tournament will begin tomorrow (17th) at Hsin Yi Golf Club in Kaohsiung, featuring a three-round, 54-hole competition. A total of 72 professional and amateur players from three countries will compete, with the champion set to take home NT$600,000. This marks the first time Tian Zheng International Precision Machinery Co., Ltd. has served as a joint single-event title sponsor on the Taiwan Tour; meanwhile, Chang Wah Group, after independently title-sponsoring the Taiwan Tour season-opening event for four consecutive years, is jointly title-sponsoring a Taiwan Tour event for the first time.

This tournament also serves as the final event of the 20-tournament Taiwan Tour season this year. While the Taiwan Tour Money Leader title has already been secured by Wang Wei-hsuan, players ranked second, third, and fourth in the season standings will still be competing for the year-end special bonus awards. The final results and prize money distribution of this tournament will determine the recipients of those bonuses. Currently, Hung Chien-yao is ranked second, Shen Wei-cheng third, and Thailand’s Suteepat ranks fourth.

The top three players on the Taiwan Tour season-long prize money ranking will additionally receive bonus awards sponsored by Taiwan Fu Hsing Industrial Chairman Lin Jui-chang, with NT$500,000 awarded to the Money Leader, NT$300,000 to second place, and NT$200,000 to third place.

The tournament is jointly organized by Tian Zheng International Precision Machinery Co., Ltd., Chang Wah Group, and The PGA of Taiwan (TPGA), with Hsin Yi Golf Club serving as the co-organizer. This is the first time Tian Zheng International Precision Machinery has co-hosted a men’s professional golf tournament in Taiwan with TPGA, while Chang Wah Group is cooperating with TPGA as a co-organizer for the fifth time.

Players from three countries—Japan, Thailand, and Chinese Taipei—will compete in this tournament, totaling 72 participants, including 40 professionals and 32 amateurs. Professional eligibility is limited to players ranked within the top 30 of the 2024 Taiwan Tour season money list, with an additional 10 professionals invited by the organizer. The tournament will be contested as a three-round stroke play event with no cut, and prize money will be awarded to the top 40 finishers. The champion will receive NT$600,000, second place NT$330,000, and third place NT$210,000.

Today (16th), an 18-hole pre-tournament Pro-Am was held at Hsin Yi Golf Club, with 30 professional players paired with more than 90 amateur participants. Using a New Scramble format, Taiwan player Su Chin-hung and three amateur partners combined for a 14-under-par 58 to win the Pro-Am title, with each amateur receiving a TaylorMade Signature golf bag.

Tomorrow’s opening round will be conducted using a shotgun start, with all 72 players divided into 24 groups of three, teeing off simultaneously from all 18 holes starting at 6:40 a.m. The round is expected to conclude at approximately 12:00 noon. To provide junior amateur players with more opportunities to learn from Taiwan Tour professionals, each group will consist of one professional paired with one or two amateur players.

In addition to Lee Chieh-po, the first Taiwanese player to compete on the LIV Golf League this year, ten players currently ranked within the top 20 of the Taiwan Tour season money list will also compete, including second-ranked Hung Chien-yao, third-ranked Shen Wei-cheng, fourth-ranked Thailand’s Suteepat Prateeptienchai—the first foreign player to win the Taiwan Tour Money Leader title last year—fifth-ranked Thailand’s Tawit Polthai, and thirteenth-ranked Su Chin-hung. Also invited are young standouts such as ThreeBond Challenge Tour champions Lee Jui-shen and Lin Ta-yu.

In addition, the tournament will feature a special legacy instruction program titled “Chase Your Dream.” Following the completion of official competition, two Taiwanese star players will host instructional sharing sessions: Yu Chun-an will teach on December 17, and Lee Chieh-po on December 18. Both sessions will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Hsin Yi Golf Club practice range. Golf fans are welcome to attend, with free admission.

The venue, Hsin Yi Golf Club, features a total course length of 7,459 yards, favoring long hitters, though accuracy off the tee remains crucial. Reading the greens and short-game execution around the putting surfaces also present significant challenges. In preparation for this season-ending Taiwan Tour event, Hsin Yi Golf Club has meticulously conditioned both fairways and greens to optimal standards, allowing players to showcase their best performances.

The tournament also offers special awards:

Holes 3, 6, 13, and 17 — NT$20,000 cash prize provided by the golf club.

All spectators must remain on cart paths, and no inter-hole shuttle service will be provided. For safety reasons, children under the age of six and pets are advised not to enter the course.
