2025 CHAU-SHI Series – Wealthy Family Open

Press Release

2025/09/29

The 9th stop of the 2025 CHAU-SHI Series, the Wealthy Family Open, will tee off tomorrow (30th) at the Ta Kang Shan Golf Club in Kaohsiung. This event also serves as the 17th tournament of the Taiwan Tour, offering a total purse of NT$3.5 million. The organizers have doubled the winner’s prize from NT$500,000 to NT$1 million, further intensifying the competition. The tournament will be played over four rounds and 72 holes from September 30 to October 3, followed by a Pro-Am on October 4.

This event is title-sponsored by Chairman Wong Chau-shi, with the BORN TO WIN Golf Team as the presenting sponsor, organized by the TPGA, and co-hosted by the Ta Kang Shan Golf Club.

This marks the second consecutive year that the BORN TO WIN Golf Team serves as the presenting sponsor for a TPGA Taiwan Tour event — the first golf team in TPGA history (since last year) to title-sponsor a professional tournament.

Originally offering a total purse of NT$3 million, the BORN TO WIN Golf Team added NT$500,000 last year to raise it to NT$3.5 million, with the champion’s prize increased from NT$500,000 to NT$650,000. This year, an additional NT$500,000 has been allocated directly to the winner’s prize, further heightening the level of competition.

The BORN TO WIN Golf Team, established just two years ago, was founded by Chairman Hung Tien-ming, who has a long-term vision for the team. The membership fee was set at NT$1 million to reflect its elite positioning. Members hail from all regions of Taiwan. The team’s members are passionate about philanthropy, having donated ambulances and actively participated in community charity projects, demonstrating their strong commitment to giving back to society.

Through the introduction of Pan Jhih-hua Golf Club’s General Manager Cheng Po-yuan in 2023, the BORN TO WIN Golf Team learned that Taiwan’s professional golf tournaments could be organized through private sponsorship. Given Chairman Hung’s longstanding enthusiasm for charitable causes, he decided to begin sponsoring and presenting this event from last year onward.

This year’s field features 111 players from five countries — Canada, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan — including 102 Taiwanese competitors (17 amateurs) and 9 foreign professionals.

After the first two rounds, the top 50 players (including ties) will advance to the final two rounds. The runner-up will receive NT$250,000, and the third-place finisher NT$160,000.

Additionally, during the Pro-Am, each guest will receive a premium gift set worth NT$5,800. The evening banquet will feature a lucky draw with special prizes for VIPs and additional prizes for professionals, including BORN TO WIN branded ProV1X golf balls and rangefinders.

The CHAU-SHI Series was initiated by Mr. Wong Chau-shi, one of the founders of the Mercuries Group and its Honorary Chairman. In 2021, due to the pandemic’s impact, the Taiwan Tour’s number of events and total prize money were significantly reduced. Mr. Wong personally stepped forward to title-sponsor and fund six tournaments, contributing NT$2 million to each, for a total of NT$12 million. These tournaments laid the foundation for the Taiwan Tour’s 2021 season.

Now in its fifth consecutive year, the CHAU-SHI Series continues under the same model, with Mr. Wong as the title sponsor for each event, contributing NT$1.5 million per tournament. This year’s schedule has expanded from eight events to ten, bringing his total sponsorship to NT$15 million and helping the Taiwan Tour reach a record 20 tournaments in 2025.

The CHAU-SHI Series also offers a special Order of Merit Champion Bonus, with the top-earning player receiving NT$250,000 sponsored by Ms. Lin Kuo-er, Chairperson of HONLIN CONSTRUCTION CO., LTD. The winner will also earn an exemption into the 2026 Mercuries Taiwan Masters.

Taiwan’s top professionals are all in the field. Eligible participants include the top 60 players from last year’s money list, the top 5 from the ThreeBond Challenge Tour Order of Merit, and the top 40 players from the latest 2025 Reranking following the Mercuries Taiwan Masters at Taiwan Golf Club.

Leading Taiwanese contenders include 2025 Taiwan Tour champions Su Chin-hung, Shen Wei-cheng, Huang I-tseng, and Shapiyate Mako, along with last year’s runner-up Huang Hsiang-hao, fifth-place finisher Hung Chien-yao, as well as Hung Chao-hsin (tied 9th) and Chen Yi-tung (tied 13th) from last week’s Mercuries Taiwan Masters. They will all compete for the trophy and the top prize.

Ta Kang Shan Golf Club measures 7,191 yards and plays to a par of 72. Its narrow fairways, deep rough around the greens, and demanding putting surfaces will test the players’ patience and all-around skills, increasing the tournament’s difficulty.
