2025 CHAU-SHI Series
Mizuno Open
Final Round
2025/6/8
The 2025 CHAU-SHI Series – Mizuno Open, with a total purse of NT$3 million, held its final round today (June 8) at Bombax Golf Club in Tainan. Chang Wei-lun played steadily, carding a four-under-par 68 to finish with a four-round total of 264, 24 under par, claiming victory by six strokes in wire-to-wire fashion. He earned the champion’s prize of NT$500,000. This marks the fourth professional title of his career.
This win follows his victories last year in both the CHAU-SHI Series season opener—the Chang Hwa Open at Hsin Yi Golf Club in Kaohsiung—and the Wealthy Family Open.
Hung Chien-yao shot a 69 and finished runner-up at 270, earning NT$250,000. Taiwan Mizuno-sponsored player Kao Teng fired a strong 68 to place third at 273. Su Chin-hung carded a 69, and Japan’s Yuki Kajimura shot a 75. Both finished tied for fourth with a total score of 275.
Thailand’s Suteepat Prateeptienchai shot a 66 today, winning the daily low round award and claiming the NT$10,000 prize provided by SOCH Furniture & DDSleep. He finished tied for 15th at 279.
After the round, Chang Wei-lun commented that despite having finished runner-up in the Mizuno Open for two consecutive years, “what’s meant to be mine will eventually be mine!” This year, he finally secured the championship by a convincing six-stroke margin.
He expressed gratitude to the organizers and co-host venue, as well as to his sponsors TaylorMade, Titleist, and Chairman Lin Bo-shih of Taiwan Glass Group, in addition to his family and Taichung Hsing Nung Golf Club.
Chang Wei-lun began today’s final round with a four-shot lead. He said, “I tried not to overthink and just focused on doing my job.” On the front nine, he relied on precise putting to card four birdies and shoot 32, extending his lead to eight strokes—a surge that boosted his confidence and led to a more conservative approach on the back nine. He holed birdie putts from 9, 12, and 12 feet on holes 1, 4, and 5 respectively. On the 9th, he chipped and one-putted for another birdie—key highlights that laid the foundation for victory. On the back nine, he added another birdie on the 10th with a 15-foot putt. Although he made two bogeys afterward, they did not threaten his commanding lead. He finished the back nine with two birdies and two bogeys for a 36.
He also pointed out that his competitors' scores did not apply much pressure, so as long as he played his game, the championship was within reach.
He added that playing on the Taiwan Tour helps him gain tournament experience, sharpen his skills, and maintain his feel. He typically sets a goal of finishing in the top 3–5 in each event. On the Asian Tour, he aims to retain his card by staying within the top 60 in the year-end rankings. He also hopes to bring the skills he develops overseas back to Taiwan to further elevate his performance—creating mutual benefits.
The CHAU-SHI Series, title-sponsored by Wong Chau-shi, Honorary Chairman of the Mercuries Group, has been held since 2021 and is now in its fifth consecutive year. This event is single-event title-sponsored by Mizuno Taiwan and organized by The PGA of Taiwan (TPGA), with Bombax Golf Club as a major sponsor and co-organizer. Mizuno Taiwan and Bombax have both served as title sponsor and co-organizer for five consecutive years.
The CHAU-SHI Series was initiated by Wong Chau-shi, one of the founders of Mercuries & Associates. In 2021, due to the pandemic, the Taiwan Tour faced a significant reduction in event count and prize money. Wong stepped in with personal sponsorship, funding six tournaments at NT$2 million each, totaling NT$12 million. This laid the foundation for the 2021 Taiwan Tour. As of this year, the Series continues for a fifth year under the same model and funding level. The number of CHAU-SHI Series events has increased from eight last year to ten, contributing to a total of 20 Taiwan Tour tournaments this year—four more than the previous season.
This is the fifth consecutive year that Mizuno Taiwan has served as the single-event title sponsor, and the seventh year that Bombax Golf Club has been the primary sponsor and co-organizer.
The CHAU-SHI Series also features a special award for the season money leader. The leading money winner will receive an additional NT$200,000 from Lin Kuo-er, Chairman of Red Forest Construction, and a guaranteed entry into the following year’s Mercuries Taiwan Masters.
The final two rounds of this tournament will be broadcast via recorded highlights, premiering online at 4:00 PM on June 17 and 18. This year’s broadcast platforms include the official Facebook page of The PGA of Taiwan, Smart Sports Channel, and YouTube. Tournament news and updates will also be available through the TPGA official website, LINE platform Golfourit, LINE Today, and Yahoo Sports.
