The tournament is title-sponsored individually by Wong Chau-shi, with the Wealthy Family Golf Team serving as the single-tournament title sponsor, the Taiwan Professional Golf Association (TPGA) as the organizer, and the National Golf Country Club as the co-organizer. This marks the third consecutive year that the Wealthy Family Golf Team has title-sponsored a TPGA Taiwan Tour event, maintaining its distinction in tour history as the first independent golf team to title-sponsor a professional golf tournament. The pre-tournament pro-am was held today over 18 holes, featuring 37 professional players paired with over 100 invited guests in a New Scramble format. Professional Lee Chao-hua and his three amateur teammates combined for a score of 13-under-par 59 to win the title, with each guest receiving a pair of ECCO men's Core Mesh golf shoes. Prior to the pro-am this morning, a long drive contest was held—marking the first time such an event has been organized specifically for amateur participants in a professional tournament. Open to registered pro-am amateurs and social guests, the contest featured 10 male and 6 female players, each given three drives with balls required to land within the fairway to count. In the men's division, Malaysian player Josh Tan claimed first place and a NT$50,000 prize with a 304-yard drive, followed by Chi Che in second with 287 yards (NT$30,000) and Lai Han-chen in third with 282 yards (NT$10,000). In the women's division, Chen Chih-chun won with a 209-yard drive, earning NT$50,000, while Fan Chen-ling took second with 201 yards (NT$30,000) and Lee Yi-chun finished third with 183 yards (NT$10,000). Introduced to the concept of private sponsorship for professional golf in 2023 by Benz Park Golf Course General Manager Cheng Po-yuan, Chairman Hung—long passionate about philanthropy—decided to single-handedly title-sponsor this event upon learning that private civilian golf teams could support professional tournaments. This marks their third year of sponsorship. After hosting the inaugural event in 2024 at the Taichung Golf Club and the second edition at the Kaohsiung Golf Club, the tournament has moved to the National Golf Country Club this year. The tournament features 139 players from 6 countries, including Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, the United States, and Taiwan. There are 105 Taiwanese players (including 14 amateurs) and 34 international competitors, with Japan representing the largest foreign contingent at 23 players. Following the first two rounds, the field will be cut to the top 50 players and ties for the final two rounds, with the runner-up receiving NT$250,000 and third place earning NT$160,000. The CHAU-SHI Series was initiated by Wong Chau-shi, co-founder of Mercuries & Associates and Honorary Chairman of the Mercuries Group. In response to the severe impact of the pandemic on the Taiwan Tour's schedule and prize pools in 2021, Wong stepped forward to personally title-sponsor six tournaments at NT$2 million each, establishing the foundational framework for the tour's revival. The course measures 7,059 yards with a par of 72. To present the course in peak condition, National Golf Country Club spared no expense in renovating the greens across the property. Nine holes have already been completely refurnished to welcome the tournament, with green-side rough management and the mastery of green contours, speed, and slope serving as the ultimate competitive tests. Notably, the green on the 7th hole has been renovated into the largest putting green in Taiwan, while the 14th par-3 features a championship tee box that can be set back to 290 yards (configured at 238 yards for this event), presenting fresh challenges for the competitors.
