The 2026 CHAU-SHI Series - Qing Lian HDF Open, featuring a total prize purse of NT$3.5 million, concluded today at the Chang Hwa Golf Club for its final round. Holding a three-stroke lead to start the day, Wang Wei-hsuan demonstrated incredible mental resilience after being tied and briefly overtaken. He caught fire on the closing stretch, carding four birdies over the final five holes to secure a two-stroke victory and a historic third consecutive title at this event. Wang shot a 5-under-par 67 today, finishing with a four-round total of 21-under-par 267 and taking home the NT$650,000 winner's purse.
This marks his first Taiwan Tour title of the year and his first victory since winning this same Qing Lian HDF Open last August. It is the ninth professional title of his career since turning pro in 2019.
Hung Chien-yao played fiercely with a 6-under-par 66, finishing alone in second place at 19-under-par 269, just two strokes behind, earning NT$330,000. Although he finished as the runner-up, Hung achieved a historic milestone on the Taiwan Tour by carding another bogey-free round of six birdies, completing all four rounds (72 holes) without a single bogey. This feat of four consecutive bogey-free rounds is an extremely rare and difficult achievement in professional golf.
Japan's Shori Ishizuka shot a 66 for a total of 271, finishing in third place. Yu Sung-po and Chang Wei-lun both carded rounds of 70, tying for fourth place at 277 overall.
Wang Wei-hsuan expressed his joy at completing a three-peat, noting how difficult the accomplishment is. Aside from thanking the title sponsors, organizers, and the host club, he gave special thanks to his sponsors—Fubon Financial Holding, the Yeangder Group, and Deng Tian Construction—as well as his family and wife for their unwavering support. Because this tournament invariably concludes around Father's Day, he was thrilled to dedicate the championship trophy to his father for three consecutive years.
He added that this victory held special significance as his first win in front of his newlywed wife, sharing that he jokingly blamed her previous caddying duties for his runner-up finishes at the recent ADT events, making this non-caddying victory all the sweeter.
This tournament is title-sponsored individually by Wong Chau-shi, Honorary Chairman of the Mercuries Group. It is organized by the Taiwan Professional Golf Association (TPGA), with the Qing Lian Group and HDF Precision Technology CO., LTD serving as the single-tournament title sponsors, and the Chang Hwa Golf Club as the co-organizer. This marks the third consecutive year that the Qing Lian Group and HDF Precision Technology CO., LTD have title-sponsored this event, and the Qing Lian Group has announced it will continue to title-sponsor this Taiwan Tour event for the next three years.
Starting the day with a three-stroke advantage over Hung Chien-yao, Wang engaged in an intense, back-and-forth battle. Due to heavy overnight rain, the course and greens were softer, leading to some distance control issues with Wang's chipping early on. After six holes, he had managed one birdie against two bogeys, allowing Hung—who had carded two birdies—to draw level at 15-under overall. However, Wang bounced back with birdies on the 7th and 8th holes, reaching the turn at 17-under and holding a two-shot lead.
On the back nine, Hung picked up three birdies through the 13th hole to edge ahead of Wang by one stroke. Regaining his chipping precision just in time, Wang surged down the stretch by converting birdie putts from 4 feet, 3 feet, and 6 feet on the 14th, 15th, and 17th holes respectively. Reclaiming a one-stroke lead heading into the final hole, Wang sealed the victory in style on the par-5 18th by hitting a brilliant 215-yard approach shot with a 6-iron onto the green and two-putting for a birdie, while Hung settled for a par.
Wang reflected after the round that the final five holes were the ultimate test. Once his chipping rhythm returned, he pushed hard to pull away from the tight contest. He embraced the high-pressure environment, viewing it as a valuable learning experience that he successfully conquered.
Hung Chien-yao extended his phenomenal bogey-free streak to four days, firing another round of six birdies without a single dropped shot. He traded blows with Wang throughout the afternoon, matching him on the 6th, 11th, and 14th holes and briefly holding the solo lead before finishing two shots back. Across the week, Hung carded 3 birdies in round one, 4 in round two, and 6 in both rounds three and four, totaling 19 birdies with zero bogeys—a truly extraordinary feat.
The tournament features four rounds and 72 holes of play. A total of 139 players from 5 countries competed, including 106 players from Taiwan (98 professionals and 8 amateurs) and 33 international professionals from Italy, Japan, Thailand, and the United States.
This tournament is the fifth of eight events on this year’s CHAU-SHI Series. The series features a special year-end Order of Merit title, where the top-ranked money leader will receive a bonus of NT$250,000 provided by Lin Kuo-er, Chairman of Red Forest Construction, along with an exemption into the 2027 Taiwan Mercuries Masters.
The CHAU-SHI Series was initiated by Wong Chau-shi, co-founder of Mercuries & Associates and Honorary Chairman of the Mercuries Group, who stepped forward during the pandemic in 2021 to support the Taiwan Tour and has continued his dedication for six consecutive years with a sponsored prize purse of NT$1.5 million per event.
Highlights of the final two rounds will be broadcast via delayed recording on August 18 and 19 starting at 16:00. Platforms include the TPGA Facebook page and YouTube channel, Yahoo Sports, the LINE Golfourit channel, the TPGA official website, Zhilin Sports, and LINE Today.
