The 2026 CHAU-SHI Series - Qing Lian HDF Open, featuring a total prize purse of NT$3.5 million, continued today at the Chang Hwa Golf Club for its second round. Amidst humid and sweltering conditions, Wang Wei-hsuan, seeking a three-peat, continued his dominant performance by carding seven birdies and zero bogeys for a second consecutive 7-under-par 65. With a two-day total of 14-under-par 130, he maintains his sole lead at the top of the leaderboard. Japan's Shori Ishizuka carded a 67 and Hung Chien-yao shot a 68, placing them both tied for second place at 7-under-par 137.
Lin Yi-yuan shot a 69 and Chang Wei-lun carded a 72, putting them both tied for fourth place with a two-round total of 139.
Japan's Keita Okada shot a 68, Taiwan's Yu Sung-bai carded a 69, Chang-Chien Ke-yen shot a 70, and Chan Shih-chang finished with a 72. All four players share sixth place at 140.
Following the conclusion of the second round today, the cut was made at 2-over-par 146, with a total of 51 players advancing to the final two rounds of the tournament.
To help accelerate the pace of play in the intense heat, tournament officials announced a new rule starting today. While players were previously permitted to ride in golf carts between holes, they are now additionally allowed to ride golf carts for the entirety of holes 10 and 11.
Temperatures in Changhua City soared to 38°C at noon today, with a feels-like temperature reaching 41°C. Combined with high humidity, the conditions created an extremely stifling environment where the challenging greens tested both the patience and physical endurance of the competitors.
The tournament is title-sponsored individually by Weng Chau-shi, Honorary Chairman of the Mercuries Group, and organized by the Taiwan Professional Golf Association (TPGA). The Qing Lian Group and Hote Precision Technology Co., Ltd. serve as the single-tournament title sponsors, with the Chang Hwa Golf Club as the co-organizer. This is the third consecutive year that the Qing Lian Group and Hote Precision Technology have title-sponsored the event, and the Qing Lian Group has announced it will continue its sponsorship for the next three years.
The 72-hole event features 139 players from 5 countries, including 106 players from Taiwan (98 professionals and 8 amateurs) and 33 international professionals from Italy, Japan, Thailand, and the United States. The champion will receive NT$650,000, and the runner-up will earn NT$33,000.
Continuing his strong form, long-hitter Wang Wei-hsuan capitalized on exceptional driving distance that surpassed even his opening-round performance. Combined with stellar chipping and a scorching hot putter yielding just 23 putts, he recorded seven birdies and no bogeys. He capitalized on three of the four par-5s with precise up-and-downs, while his other birdies included a 21-foot long putt on the 2nd hole alongside tap-ins and short conversions within 4 feet. Wang noted that his average driving distance of around 330 yards allows him to clear course hazards easily, keeping his strategy relaxed and effective.
Shori Ishizuka carded seven birdies and two bogeys, noting that while his long game and iron shots were sharp, a few missed mid-range putts kept him from going even lower. He echoed the sentiments of many regarding the punishing heat, which made physical recovery a major priority after the round.
Hung Chien-yao posted four birdies and zero bogeys to reach 137 overall. He expressed happiness with his second straight bogey-free card, praising his long game accuracy off the tee and his effective short game under challenging wind conditions in the afternoon.
Lin Yi-yuan relied on sharp iron play and putting to card five birdies against two bogeys, shooting a 69 to jump into a tie for fourth place. Chang Wei-lun held steady through fourteen holes before stumbling with consecutive bogeys on the 15th and 16th to finish with a 72, dropping to a tie for fourth. Meanwhile, Chan Shih-chang struggled off the tee, finding only five fairways, and suffered a costly double bogey on the 16th after his drive found the bunker wall, placing him tied for sixth.
Special Awards:
Hole-in-One Prizes: NT$10,000 provided by the club for holes 2, 9, 11, and 16. Special 11th Hole Prize: Any professional who hits a hole-in-one on the 11th hole during the four official rounds will receive a NT$20,000 cash prize sponsored by Chang Hwa Golf Club Director Hsieh Chien-hui, with no limit on the number of winners.
Grand Hotel Stay: Da-An Group is offering a free one-night stay in the Presidential Suite at the Lishan Guest House for any hole-in-one, with no limit on the number of winners.
Course Record: NT$20,000 provided by Chang Hwa Golf Club (currently 64, held by Chang Che-yu).
Spectator Information:
Spectators are welcome. Please pay a NT$20 insurance fee at the clubhouse counter, fill out the required information, and collect a spectator badge. Spectators must walk on cart paths; no shuttle service between holes is provided. For safety reasons, children under 6 and pets are not permitted on the course.
Highlights of the final two rounds will be broadcast via delayed recording on August 18 and 19 starting at 16:00. Platforms include the TPGA Facebook page and YouTube channel, Yahoo Sports, the LINE Golfourit channel, the TPGA official website, Zhilin Sports, and LINE Today.
