The 2026 HCT ADT Open officially kicked off today at the Hsinfeng Golf Club in Hsinchu County. Taiwan’s star player Hung Chien-yao, who won last week's Ambassador ADT Open, maintained his excellent form by carding six birdies and zero bogeys. He shares the early first-round lead at 6-under-par 66 alongside Saudi Arabia's Faisal Salhat and Thailand's Tawit Polthai.

A group of five players—including Taiwan’s Chang Wei-lun, South Korea’s Jaeil Kim, Thailand’s Suteepat Prateeptienchai, Japan’s Shunichiro Morioka, and America’s John Walker—shot rounds of 67 to tie for fourth place.

Su Chin-hung, who finished tied for second last week, carded a 68 and sits in a tie for ninth place alongside Japan’s Yusuke Iida.

The four-round, 72-hole tournament features a total purse of USD $120,000 (approximately NT$3.84 million), with the champion taking home USD $21,000 (approximately NT$67.2 million/NT$672,000). A total of 156 elite players from 21 countries are competing.

Co-organized by the Yeangder Group, the TPGA, and the Asian Development Tour (ADT), this marks the first time the Yeangder Group has title-sponsored an ADT event under the name of this specific corporate affiliate. It is also the second consecutive ADT tournament hosted by the Yeangder Group this year, the third consecutive week of ADT action in Taiwan this season, and the 10th stop of the 13-tournament 2026 ADT season.

Hung Chien-yao, fresh off his victory at the Ambassador ADT Open last week, posted six birdies and no bogeys today. He shared that last week’s win gave him a massive boost in confidence, and he is continuing to fine-tune his game to maintain this sharp form and competitive edge leading into September's Yeangder Taiwan Open.

He noted that his overall performance was very steady today, with the greens in great condition and rolling smoothly, making his 25-putt round feel much more comfortable. However, he admitted to missing a few birdie putts as he continues dialing in his feel, particularly with his long game. Highlight moments included the 4th hole, where his tee shot narrowly missed the green setting up an easy up-and-down for a tap-in birdie, and the 10th hole, where he drained his longest putt of the day from 15 feet.

Thailand’s Tawit Polthai fired an eagle, five birdies, and a bogey. He stated after the round that although his driving wasn't ideal, his chipping and putting were exceptional, needing only 23 putts. He picked up four birdies on his front nine (Holes 10–18), all within 15 feet. After trading a birdie and a bogey on the back nine, he capped off his round on his final hole—the par-5 9th—by hitting a 180-yard second shot onto the green and sinking a 20-foot eagle putt to vault into the co-lead.

He added that having played this course many times, he knows that accurate tee shots finding the fairway are vital to setting up birdie opportunities, and he hopes to improve his driving accuracy tomorrow for an even better score.

Saudi Arabia’s Faisal Salhat carded seven birdies and one bogey. After posting two birdies and a bogey on his front nine, he figured out how to attack the course on the back nine, firing five birdies thanks to consistent driving finding nine fairways (six on the back nine) and a hot putter with 26 total putts.

He remarked that the course is extremely challenging, especially off the tee where players must avoid straying into the trees, but he managed his drives well today. He was most pleased with birdying three out of the four par-5s, particularly on holes 9 and 18.

Chang Wei-lun put together an even-keeled round featuring six birdies and one bogey, backed by steady chipping and 28 putts. Although he missed seven fairways, his balls settled nicely on the edges of the fairway and rough, allowing him to attack the green on most occasions, with his only bogey coming on the 7th hole where a left miss left him blocked out.

His six birdies included three on the par-5s, capitalizing with up-and-downs on holes 9 and 18, alongside his longest conversion of the day—a 24-footer on the 11th hole. He noted that the winds picked up on the back nine, but his familiarity with the course helped him judge the wind directions and landing spots to execute his shots as intended.

Su Chin-hung also played a balanced round with solid driving, sharp chipping, and 25 putts, totaling six birdies and two bogeys. He capitalized on all four par-5s, reaching the green in two shots on holes 9 and 14 for two-putt birdies, and executing up-and-down 9-foot birdie putts on holes 5 and 18.

He successfully saved par on two tricky holes, recovering with up-and-downs on the 4th after pushing his drive into an adjacent hole's fairway, and repeating the feat on the 13th after a left tee error. Su noted that as someone who frequently practices at Hsinfeng, he feels like a semi-host player. He emphasized that drives cannot stray and shifting, gusty winds require immense patience to manage.

The Yeangder Group first title-sponsored the Yeangder ADT Open in 2012, followed by three consecutive years of co-title-sponsoring ADT events with other corporations starting in 2014. From 2015 to 2016, and again in 2024 and 2025, the group title-sponsored the Ambassador ADT at Hsinfeng Golf Club. With the Yeangder Group hosting this week's HCT ADT Open, last week's Ambassador ADT Open, and the preceding Ever Glory ADT Open, Taiwan is hosting three consecutive weeks of ADT events this July out of the 13 total tournaments in the season. This not only attracts top-tier international talent to compete but also provides young Taiwanese players with more opportunities to hone their skills and challenge themselves on a major stage.

Aside from the two ADT events hosted by the Yeangder Group this July, September's Yeangder Taiwan Open—an upgraded version of the Yeangder TPC Championship—features a record-high total prize fund this year. This clearly demonstrates that the Yeangder Group not only plays a steadfast role in supporting Taiwanese golf over the long term but is also a major driving force for golf in Asia.

The tournament features 87 foreign players (including one amateur) and 69 Taiwanese professionals representing 21 countries: Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Laos, Morocco, Malaysia, Philippines, Scotland, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, the United States, and host nation Taiwan.

Following the first two rounds, the tournament will cut to the top 50 players and ties to advance to the final two rounds.

The tournament is being contested on the East and West courses of Hsinfeng Golf Club, playing at a total length of 6,618 yards (Par 72). Known for its narrow tree-lined fairways and strong winds, this week's weather forecast calls for hot, humid conditions with afternoon thunderstorms. Combined with challenging rough, tricky green-side areas, and subtle putting green reads, the course will heighten the level of difficulty, posing a severe test to the players' skills, stamina, and patience!

Special Tournament Awards

Hole-in-One Awards:

East Course Holes 2 & 8, West Course Holes 3 & 6, plus Tournament Holes 2, 8, 12, & 15: Hsinfeng Golf Club is offering a cash prize of NT$20,000. Hole 15 (West Course Hole 6): Dong Huei Watch Co. is offering a SEVENFRIDAY watch valued at NT$55,000, awarded to the first professional player to score a hole-in-one during the four official tournament rounds. Course Record Breaking Award (East & West Courses — currently held by Suteepat Prateeptienchai of Thailand at 62):

Unlimited holes and number of recipients: Da-An Group is offering a free one-night stay in the Presidential Suite of the Lishan Guest House, valid for weekdays and weekends alike.

ADT points have been included in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) since 2013, and the top 10 players on the final ADT Order of Merit earn eligibility for the Asian Tour the following season.

Spectators are welcome to attend the tournament on-site. Please report to the golf course front desk, pay a NT$20 insurance fee, and complete registration to receive a spectator sticker before entering the course. Spectators must walk strictly on the cart paths; riding in golf carts is strictly prohibited, and the club does not provide inter-hole shuttle services. For safety reasons, children under the age of 6 and pets are prohibited from entering the tournament grounds.

The final two rounds of exciting competition will be broadcast via delayed video streaming, premiering online starting at 16:00 on August 3 and August 4. This year's broadcasting platforms include the TPGA Facebook and YouTube channels, Yahoo Sports, the TPGA official website, the LINE platform (Golfourit), and the Intelligent Sports Channel (Zhi Lin TV). In addition, Golf Media—Taiwan's sole course digital media network—will broadcast the event across 20 golf courses island-wide.
