Final Round

June 6, 2026

The 2026 CHAU-SHI Series – Mizuno Open, with a total purse of NT$3 million, concluded today (June 6) at Bombax Golf Club in Tainan. Dark horse Ho Yu-cheng came out firing in the final round, carding one eagle, six birdies, and no bogeys for the lowest round of the tournament, a 64. He surged to victory with a four-round total of 275 (-13), claiming the third professional title of his seven-year career and earning the champion’s prize of NT$500,000.

Huang Yi-tseng and Su Chin-hung both posted final-round 68s and finished tied for second place at 276 (-12), each receiving NT$205,000 in prize money. Wang Hsi-an, who had led after each of the first three rounds, shot 72 on Sunday and finished fourth at 278 (-10), earning NT$100,000.

Japan’s Yuta Yoshikuwa and Takumi Ishige, along with Lin Yung-lung, tied for fifth place at 279 (-9). Another Japanese player, Ryo Noro, finished eighth at 280 (-8). Hsieh Ting-wei and Thailand’s Pattanan Bruminhent tied for ninth place at 281 (-7).

In the Low Amateur competition, Ho Po-yu and Lin Shang-yu both finished with four-round totals of 293 (+5). After four playoff holes, Ho Po-yu emerged victorious to claim the honor.

Starting the day at five-under-par, Ho Yu-cheng said his only goal before the round was to challenge the tournament’s single-round scoring record of 62 and had not considered winning the title. However, at the par-5 third hole, he holed his second shot from 152 yards with a 9-iron for eagle, instantly building momentum. He then chipped to tap-in range from 15 yards at the fifth, drained birdie putts of 18 and 12 feet on the seventh and eighth holes, and left himself a one-foot birdie after a 45-foot putt on the ninth. After recording an eagle and four birdies on the front nine, he vaulted into the outright lead.

“At that point, I started to feel I had a chance to win,” he said.

After shooting a front-nine 30, Ho continued to focus not on victory but on chasing a 62. Maintaining a calm mindset, he added another birdie with a 10-foot putt at the 14th hole, extending his lead to two shots. His most crucial stroke came at the 17th, where he holed a 21-foot putt to save par. On the 18th, he chipped from 38 yards to tap-in range for a closing birdie.

“I made a lot of putts today, and that gave me the opportunity to win,” said Ho, who needed only 24 putts in the round. His 64, just two shots shy of his target score, allowed him to come from behind and secure the title convincingly.

The 29-year-old Ho captured his first Taiwan Tour title at the Chasing Dream Open in 2022. In recent years, he has focused primarily on the Asian Development Tour (ADT), where he earned his first ADT victory in Malaysia in 2023. He admitted that fear of failure had hindered his progress over the past three years, leading him to work with a mental coach. Today’s victory marked his first professional title in three years and the third of his career.

Representing Taichung International Golf Club, Ho thanked all the organizations involved in the tournament and TPGA Chairman Chen Jung-hsing for helping secure so many playing opportunities for professionals over the past six years. He also expressed gratitude to his family and sponsors, including Chairman Huang of Hsieh Yi Steel Technology, Chairman Hsieh of Hong Jin Precision, Chairman Wu of Chien Hsing Environmental Engineering, Chairman Sun of Bau-Her Construction, Chairman Ho of KOK Entertainment, MEGA Taiwan, and his support team consisting of swing coach Tsai Ting-hung, mental coach Chuang Yen-hui, and fitness coach Chang Hsu-lun.

Ho said his next goal is to attend Japan Golf Tour qualifying school and continue improving his results on the ADT.

Present at today’s awards ceremony were three key figures who have formed the backbone of the event: Taiwan Mizuno General Manager Fukuchi Makoto, who has supported Taiwanese golf and TPGA events for more than 30 years; TPGA Chairman Chen Jung-hsing; and Bombax Golf Club General Manager Cheng Po-yuan. Their organizations served as the tournament’s title sponsor, organizer, and co-organizer respectively.

This year marks the final year of Chen Jung-hsing’s second term as TPGA Chairman and also the sixth year of the CHAU-SHI Series. Chen reflected:

“Mizuno has been one of the strongest supporters of golf in Taiwan. From the era of Tu Ah-yu until today, Mizuno has always been part of Taiwanese golf. I hope Mizuno will continue supporting the sport in the future. I would also like to thank Bombax Golf Club for providing the venue, and especially Chairman Wong Chau-shi, who launched the CHAU-SHI Series during one of TPGA’s most difficult periods. He has consistently provided a platform for young players to improve and develop. I hope our players continue producing excellent results to repay the support of these sponsors.”

This tournament was the third stop of the 2026 CHAU-SHI Series and the fifth event on the Taiwan Tour schedule. It also remains the only tournament to have appeared in all six seasons of the CHAU-SHI Series since Honorary Mercuries Group Chairman Wong Chau-shi became the series’ title sponsor in 2021. The event was title-sponsored by Taiwan Mizuno Corporation, organized by the TPGA, and supported by Bombax Golf Club as the principal sponsor and co-organizer. The year 2026 also marks the 120th anniversary of Mizuno’s founding (April 1, 1906) and the 40th anniversary of Taiwan Mizuno (established in 1986).

The CHAU-SHI Series was initiated by Wong Chau-shi, one of the founders of Mercuries Group. When the COVID-19 pandemic significantly reduced the number of Taiwan Tour events and total prize money in 2021, Wong stepped forward as the series title sponsor, funding six tournaments at NT$2 million per event, totaling NT$12 million. His support helped establish the foundation of the Taiwan Tour that year. The same model has continued for six consecutive years, with the CHAU-SHI Series providing NT$1.5 million in sponsorship funding for each event. The 2026 schedule consists of eight tournaments.

The CHAU-SHI Series also features a special Order of Merit bonus. The season-long money leader will receive an additional NT$250,000 bonus sponsored by HONLIN CONSTRUCTION CO., LTD Chairman Lin Kuo-er and will earn an exemption into the following year’s Mercuries Taiwan Masters.

Highlights from the final two rounds of the tournament will be broadcast via delayed coverage on June 16 and June 17 at 4:00 p.m. Coverage will be available on the TPGA Facebook page, YouTube channel, Yahoo Sports, LINE platform Golfourit, the TPGA official website, VL Sports Channel, and Line Today.
