2025 ThreeBond Fu Hsing Challenge Tour
Round 1
2025/8/26
The 2025 ThreeBond Fu Hsing Challenge Tour, with a total purse of NT$1,000,000, teed off today (26th) at Nan Yi Golf Country Club. Senior players Chen Yuan-che and Lee Shih-hung both carded a 3-under-par 69 to share the lead after the first round. The two also shared the NT$20,000 low-round bonus, taking home NT$10,000 each.
Lee Jui-shen, Hsieh Tung-hung, Lin Wei, Yang Hsiao-che, and Wen Hsin-tu all shot 70, finishing one stroke back and tied for third place.
Hsieh Ting-wei, Tsai Kai-jen, Hsu Meng-nan, Chen Chieh-sheng, Wu Yao-wei, Chen Yi-yu, and amateur player Kuo Shih-chi all posted rounds of 71, two strokes behind the leaders and tied for eighth. Among the 10 participating amateurs, Kuo Shih-chi recorded the best score of the day.
The tournament concludes tomorrow with the final round, where multiple players remain in contention for the championship trophy and the NT$150,000 winner’s prize. The event features two rounds of 36 holes, with no cut, and a total of 91 Taiwanese players—including 81 professionals and 10 amateurs.
In tomorrow’s final round, players will again tee off simultaneously from the 1st and 10th holes, starting at 7:00 AM, with the last group set to start at 9:30 AM. The round is expected to conclude around 1:30 PM, followed immediately by the awards ceremony.
Senior player Chen Yuan-che delivered steady driving and precise iron play today, offsetting average putting to card four birdies and one bogey. His birdies came on two par-3s and two par-4s: a 12-foot putt at the par-4 5th hole and another at the par-3 8th on the front nine, followed by a 3-foot birdie putt at the par-4 12th and an impressive 24-foot birdie at the par-3 15th. His lone bogey came on the par-4 14th, where his third shot came up short and he missed the par-saving putt.
Chen commented that he has no special thoughts going into tomorrow’s round, saying, “I won’t think too much. I just want to finish smoothly tomorrow.”
At nearly 54 years old, Chen has not competed in the ThreeBond Challenge Tour or the Taiwan Tour in over three years since focusing on Senior events, where he has already won five titles. His last win on the Challenge Tour, which was also his first professional victory, came at the 2018 ThreeBond Challenge at the Dagangshan Golf Club. Tomorrow will reveal whether he can once again overcome the younger players to claim another title.
Lee Shih-hung, aiming for his third ThreeBond Challenge title, also recorded four birdies and one bogey. He displayed consistent play throughout the round, driving well and hitting 15 greens in regulation, though his putting was moderate at 31 putts. He sank a 15-foot birdie on the par-3 3rd hole, picked up birdies on the par-5 9th and 11th holes, and added a 6-foot birdie on the par-4 14th. His highlight came at the par-5 11th, where his third shot from 90 yards landed within 3 feet, setting up an easy birdie. However, mistakes off the tee, on his approach, and on the green at the 18th led to his lone bogey.
Lee noted he missed several birdie chances from 3 to 4 feet but praised the course conditions: “The course is in great shape, and the greens roll very smoothly.” He currently sits sixth in the Challenge Tour’s annual prize money rankings.
Currently ranked fifth on the money list, Hsieh Tung-hung also performed well today, carding five birdies and three bogeys. His birdies came on three par-4s and two par-5s, highlighted by a 15-foot uphill-downhill two-tier putt at the par-4 10th. He also converted 3-to-4-foot putts on both the par-5 9th and 11th holes after accurate chip-and-putt play.
Hsieh remarked that this was his first time competing at this course and that he is not yet familiar with it, but overall his game was consistent, finishing with 29 putts. He noted that Nan Yi Golf Country Club presents challenges across all aspects—driving, iron play, chipping, and putting—due to its narrow fairways, numerous hazards, and demanding greenside rough, giving it the character of a true international-level course.
Among the amateurs, Kuo Shih-chi led the field with a 71, thanks to solid putting with just 28 putts. He made three birdies and two bogeys, though his second-shot iron play was inconsistent and his greens-in-regulation rate was low. Still, his short game saved several pars. He sank birdies on one par-3, one par-4, and one par-5, with the longest coming from 15 feet at the par-4 2nd hole and another from 12 feet at the par-3 15th.
