ThreeBond TPGA Challenge Tour
ThreeBond Yeangder Challenge
Final Round
2025/7/11
The fifth stop of the 2025 ThreeBond TPGA Challenge Tour — the Yeangder Challenge — concluded its final round today (July 11) at Suncity Golf Club in Guanxi. Hung Chien-yao delivered a steady performance, carding a 2-under-par 70 to finish with a 9-under total of 135 over two rounds, capturing the championship title and a prize of NT$150,000.
This victory marks Hung’s return to the winner’s circle after a 1-year and 8-month drought, since winning the CHAU-SHI Series - Lee Yih Open at Taichung Golf Club on November 24, 2023. It is also his third career ThreeBond Challenge Tour title, having previously won the Yeangder Challenge at Changhua in August 2021 and the Mountain-Sea Metaverse Challenge at Wu Fong Golf Course in July 2022.
Tsai Chen-kai also shot a 70 today and finished with a 5-under total of 139, four shots back in solo second place, earning NT$75,000.
Chan Ting-li fought hard for a 68, while Hsieh Ting-wei posted a 70 and Peng Hung-chin a 71. All three players finished at 141 and shared third place.
Former runner-up Chang Chien Ko-yen, who was in second after Round 1, aggravated an old wrist injury and stumbled with a 77, falling to a tie for 12th at 144 total.
Among amateurs, Chang Wei-te carded a 74 and Liao Chung-han a 76, both finishing at 153 and tied for 53rd. Though they were the top-performing amateurs among the seven in the field, they were outside the top 40 professional payouts and thus ineligible for prize money.
Hung Chien-yao, competing as a seeded player from the TPGA Tour, recorded four birdies and two bogeys today. He hit 11 fairways, reached 9 greens in regulation, and took 24 putts. He admitted his iron play was not as sharp as the previous day, with seven fewer greens hit, but credited his short game and putting for saving key shots and converting birdies. “If I had to score myself, I’d say 90 yesterday and 80 today. But this has definitely been one of my better events in recent years.”
Hung explained that due to ongoing struggles with his game, he recently switched to a full set of Mizuno irons and a new driver after consulting with his coach and club technician. He entered this week’s challenge tour to test the new setup and tweak his swing. “Winning here fulfilled that goal. It brought back the feeling of victory — standing on stage, holding the mic, giving a winner’s speech — and it gave me renewed confidence for bigger tournaments ahead.”
He expressed special thanks to Yeangder Group Chairman Hsu Yu-jui, San Hwa Cotton, Mr. Fu from Chiiann Yi Group, Ms. Chou (a Synnix Textiles member at Oriental Golf Club), his family, wife, and father-in-law for their unwavering support.
Runner-up Tsai Chen-kai also shot four birdies and two bogeys. He was the champion of this event when it was held at Suncity in 2023. Playing in the final group with Hung today, he teed off four shots behind but remained fiercely competitive. He shot a front-nine 34 with three birdies and one bogey to cut the gap to three. After 12 holes, he had narrowed the lead to two, but in the final six holes, he made one birdie and one bogey, while Hung sank two more birdies to seal the win by four shots. “Playing alongside Hung today brought out my competitiveness and helped me play well,” Tsai said after the round.
This tournament consisted of two rounds (36 holes) with a total purse of NT$1 million. The champion received NT$150,000, the runner-up NT$75,000, and third place NT$50,000. A total of 96 players — 89 professionals and 7 amateurs — participated. No cut was made after Round 1, and the top 40 finishers after Round 2 received prize money.
Mr. Lin Jui-chang, Chairman of Taiwan Fu Hsing Industrial Co., Ltd., has once again pledged additional bonuses for the top three finishers on the ThreeBond Challenge Tour’s season-long money list: NT$500,000, NT$300,000, and NT$200,000, respectively.
ThreeBond, a Japan-based international manufacturer known for its specialty adhesives, has supported former TPGA Chairman Chen Chih-chung for over 40 years. This year marks its 11th consecutive year as the title sponsor of the TPGA Challenge Tour. The Yeangder Group served as the presenting sponsor of this event, with Suncity Golf Club as the co-organizer.
