The final round of the 2024 ThreeBond TPGA Challenge Tour, Second Stage at Cheng Guan Yuan, took place today (25th) at Hsin Yi Golf Course in Kaohsiung. Due to heavy rain, the competition was delayed, leading to intense and fluctuating gameplay. Chen Chieh Sheng secured his first professional career victory by clinching a crucial birdie on the last hole, sinking a 12-foot putt to finish with a score of 68, four strokes below the standard par. With a total score of 139 over two rounds, he clinched the title by a narrow margin, winning a prize of NT$150,000.

Hsiao He Yu and Chen Po Hao both scored 72 in the final round, finishing with a two-round total of 140, tied for second place. Su Ching Hung scored 71, Chang Chien Ko Yen scored 72, and Tseng Hong Sheng scored 76, with all three finishing with a two-round total of 141, securing fourth place.

Lin Cheng-Yu scored 65, winning the Lions Clubs International 1415 President Huang Mingcong's prize for today's lowest score of NT$15,000. With a total score of 143 over two rounds, he tied for 11th place.

Amateur player Hu Yu Tang, trained at Ta Kang Shan Golf Course, scored 76 today, finishing with a two-round total of 149 to win the amateur division championship. He also received additional prizes for amateur players, including 5 SRIXON Z-STAR XV golf balls sponsored by DUNLOP and an OMNIX golf bag sponsored by SHANG CHONG INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD. He tied for 38th place in the professional rankings. He also won the amateur championship in the previous Bombax Open.

Chen Chieh Sheng expressed confidence after securing his first victory today, aiming for more in the future. Since turning professional in 2019, he has faced challenges but continually adjusted and worked on improving himself, including physical training to enhance stability and distance. He finally felt a breakthrough at the beginning of this year, with improved consistency in his drives and his existing strengths in iron shots and putting. Today's success was a culmination of his efforts.

He attributed his victory to accurate iron shots, putting, and a steady mindset. Despite a setback on the 16th hole, where his ball got stuck in a tree, resulting in a bogey, he remained composed and finished strong with birdies on the last two holes. His strategic approach on the final hole, where he capitalized on a birdie opportunity, sealed his victory.

Chen Chieh Sheng, now 26, has been playing golf since the age of 10, receiving guidance from various coaches and practicing with peers at Golf Practice Range, Miramar Golf Country Club (under Coach Tu Ayu), and under Coach Lin Yuping.

He thanked his parents, fitness coach Lu Meixian, First Golf Course, Yung Han Golf Club, and his training partners for their continuous support. His goal this year is to rank in the top 30 of the Taiwan Tour and win several championships in the Challenge Tour. He has qualified for both the Taiwan Tour and ThreeBond Challenge Tour this year and is fully committed to giving his best.

Today, heavy rain fell in the Kaohsiung area in the early morning, delaying the scheduled tee-off time from 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM. As the rain persisted, the organizers decided to have all players tee off simultaneously at 9:30 AM to expedite the completion of the second round. Additionally, due to wet fairways, the "Preferred Lies" rule was implemented to ensure fair play. Fortunately, the competition was successfully concluded.

Present at the awards ceremony were representatives from ThreeBond Hong Kong Ltd. Taiwan Branch, Both-Well Group CEO Wu Jianming, Cheng Guan Yuan Golf Practice Field Chairman Lin Qing'en and General Manager Huang Futai, Hsin Yi Golf Course General Manager Lin Renlin, and TPGA Chairman Chen Jung Hsin.

Furthermore, the special hole-in-one prizes for the 13th and 17th holes, sponsored by TZER LI ENTERPRISE CO., LTD. Chairman Zeng Zegou and ELITE INDUSTECH CO., LTD. Chairman Huang Fujin, respectively, were donated to the TPGA for the development of Taiwanese men's professional golf as no player achieved a hole-in-one in either round.

This week's tournament is the second event of the 2024 ThreeBond Challenge Tour season, with a total prize pool of NT$1,000,000. Both-Well Group has been the sole sponsor of this event for seven consecutive years, co-hosted by the Taiwan Professional Golf Association and ThreeBond, with Hsin Yi Golf Course as the co-host.
