The second stop of the 2024 ThreeBond TPGA Challenge Tour, the Cheng Guan Yuan Challenge, will kick off tomorrow (24th) at the Hsin Yi Golf Course in Kaohsiung, with two days of competition over 36 holes. A total of 85 professional players (including 4 Taiwan Tour players) and 11 amateur players will compete, vying for the championship trophy and a top prize of NT$150,000.
This week's event marks the second competition of the ThreeBond Challenge Tour season, with a total prize purse of NT$1 million. This is the 7th consecutive year that BothWell Group (Cheng Guan Yuan Golf Practice Field) has sponsored this event. The Taiwan Professional Golf Association co-hosts with ThreeBond, with Hsin Yi Golf Course as the co-organizer.
Today, the event held a one-day 18-hole Pro-Am, with 12 groups of VIPs paired with professional players. Participants included Wu Jianming, President of BothWell Group; Lin Ruizhang, Chairman of TAIWAN FU HSING Industrial; Lin Renlin, General Manager of Hsin Yi Golf Course; and Zheng Xiqian, Chairman of ADVANCED INTERNATIONAL MULTITECH.
The course for this event measures 7,510 yards in total length. Lin Yi-Yuan seeks to defend his title, while Hsieh Min Hsuan, the champion of the opening event at Bombax, aims for back-to-back victories. The tee-off times for the first and second rounds are both at 6:30 AM.
ThreeBond, a multinational corporation that originated from Japan specializing in adhesive manufacturing, has been the title sponsor of the TPGA Challenge Tour for 10 years now. The 2024 ThreeBond TPGA Challenge Tour maintains a schedule of 9 events.
The competition features special awards:
- Hole-in-one Prize: The course will provide merchandise equivalent to the value of the hole-in-one & NT$20,000.
- 3rd hole: BothWell Group / Cheng Guan Yuan Golf Practice Field, NT$100,000
- 6th hole: Provided by TUNG HUI WATCH CO., LTD., with a market value of NT$118,000 for one ORIS watch. Limited to professional players.
- 13th hole: TZER LI ENTERPRISE CO., LTD., NT$100,000
- 17th hole: ELITE INDUSTECH CO., LTD., NT$100,000
- Daily Lowest Score Award - Sponsored by Lions Clubs International 1415, with NT$15,000 awarded daily to professional players for both rounds on April 24th and 25th.
- Course Record Breaking Award - The course offers NT$20,000 for breaking the amateur course record of 63 held by Chen Jiqun.
- Amateur Champion Prize: DUNLOP TYRES LTD. sponsors 5 SRIXON Z-STAR XV golf balls.
- SHANG CHONG INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD. sponsors one OMNIX golf bag.
During the competition, spectators are allowed on the course, but they must pay a facility cleaning fee of NT$30 at the starting point, fill out a disclaimer form to obtain a spectator pass, and strictly follow the cart path. Riding on golf carts is prohibited, and there are no shuttle services provided between holes.
